Star Wars Camping Adventures: Episode One

Watercolor-style drawing of Jar Jar Binks holding a Coleman space tent

A children’s book I wrote and illustrated for family members. Darth Vader, Jabba the Hutt, and Jar Jar Binks go camping.

The National Park Service has proposed changes that would result in the unnecessary commercialization of public spaces. These are my public comments on the proposed changes.

Greetings from the Back of My Van

Blue VW Vanagon on a desert playa

In 2012, I launched a Kickstarter project called Greetings from the Back of My Van. While traveling across the country in my Vanagon, I sent original postcards and letters to project backers.

I have a friend named Flink. We send each other stuff in the mail. I call this project the Great Big Letter.

Interviews at the Charles M. Schulz Museum

Statue of Charlie Brown greets visitors at the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center

On August 10, 2012 I visited the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, California. While there, I had the privilege of interviewing Jeannie Schulz, the widow of Peanuts creator Charles Schulz, and Lisa Monhoff, the museum’s archivist.

Photo of an Iowa sunset

When I lived in Iowa, I lived in a rural area. When I moved to Seattle I couldn’t take the soundscape with me, so I recorded it.
