Message on postcard:
Hey Kristina —
Thanks for coming out to the science center while Mandy and Max and I were in Los Angeles. It was good to see you again and to meet Eric. I hope all is well with you as your due date approaches. Things are about normal here in Arizona. We finally got a garden planted (in the first week of July), the monsoon has arrived, and I am currently listening to Pretty Lights on YouTube while writing the postcard to you.
I first became familiar with Pretty Lights because of a track I liked where he remixed the Nina Simone version of “I Put a Spell on You.”
I am also drinking hot chocolate, and this is better than what I was doing earlier, which was just eating straight hot chocolate powder out of the single-serving pouch.
Last night I wrote to a friend while listening to an album called The Music Scene by an artist named Blockhead.
Generally these days I am about five to ten years behind the curve with respect to music and pop culture. This kind of works out well, because the time lag functions as a quality filter. Anyway, I have enclosed a sticker from Grand Canyon. It has a condor on it. If you google “capture of AC-9, the last wild condor,” you will see a video of a heavy moment in conservation history. (Heavy good, not bad.)
